Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Speakzy ("Speakzy", "we", "us") provides a language-learning application available on the web and as mobile apps. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights. By using Speakzy you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

Account information you provide:

• Email address and password (authentication is handled by our provider Supabase; we never see your raw password).
• Optional profile details you choose during onboarding: learning goal, speaker gender, age range, native language, and the language you are learning.

Information generated as you learn:

• Learning progress, XP, streaks, completed lessons, mastery and favorites.
• The text you type to the AI Tutor and Conversation Coach, which is sent to OpenAI to generate replies (see “AI features” below).
• Speech in pronunciation and speaking practice: in our mobile apps, your speech is transcribed on your device and the audio is not sent to us or to OpenAI; only the resulting text is sent to OpenAI to score your pronunciation. On the web, audio may be sent to OpenAI for transcription.

Billing information:

• Subscription status and billing events. Card payments are processed entirely by Stripe — we do not collect or store your full card number.

Usage information:

• Basic analytics about how the app is used (pages viewed, sessions) via Google Analytics, including cookies and similar identifiers.

3. AI features and third-party AI (OpenAI)

Speakzy's AI Tutor, Conversation Coach, and pronunciation feedback are powered by OpenAI, a third-party AI service. In our mobile apps we ask for your explicit consent before you use these features, and you can choose not to use them.

What we send to OpenAI:

• The text you type in these features.
• Text transcribed from your speech. In our mobile apps this transcription happens on your device using the operating system's speech recognition, so your audio recordings are not sent to us or to OpenAI — only the resulting text is sent.

OpenAI processes this text solely to generate your lessons, replies, and pronunciation feedback. Under OpenAI's API data-usage terms, your content is not used to train OpenAI's models, and OpenAI is contractually required to protect your data with safeguards equivalent to those described in this policy. These AI features are optional — the rest of Speakzy works without sending anything to OpenAI.

4. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the app, including saving your progress across devices.
• To personalize lessons and AI responses to your level and goals.
• To process your subscription and billing.
• To send essential service emails (for example, trial-ending and streak reminders).
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

5. Service providers we share data with

We share data only with the processors needed to run Speakzy:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and storage of your account and progress.
• Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
• OpenAI — AI Tutor and Conversation Coach replies and pronunciation feedback, under API terms that require equivalent data protection and that its API data is not used to train its models (see “AI features” above).
• Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
• Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics.
• Resend — transactional and reminder emails.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to measure usage through Google Analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect functionality.

7. International data transfers

Our providers (including Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, and Vercel) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. Voice recordings are processed transiently and not stored after transcription. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we must retain limited records (for example, billing records) to comply with law.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR and Thailand's PDPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings inside the app. For any other request, contact us at the email below.

10. Children

Speakzy is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by notice in the app.
